"You Get What You Pay For"

We stayed at this hotel just this past weekend in the most expensive room they have, the huge suite. It has a separate living and bedroom area, with a bathtub (I hesitate to call it a jet/hot tub) right next to the bed area. We only paid just over $100 for two nights in this huge room, so I'm not going to be that picky about things! Also, every single staff member I spoke to was very, very nice to me. The only people there that I think need help would be the maid/cleaning service as our room was not cleaned, only towels replaced.
BAD - This hotel is old, and is in desperate need of repairs and renovations. I hope it is on the top of the list to have this done for La Quinta. The entire hotel smells of cigarette smoke, and I'm not sure why other than the carpets must be so old it's permanently in them. Our ceiling above the bathtub looked like it was going to cave in. The shower was horrible as there was barely any room in it, the shower head was mostly pointing to the curtain, the curtain blew in on you all the time, and it didn't drain well. As others have mentioned, you can hear people in the hall somewhat easily, but it didn't bother us as we were in the suite, so our bedroom was far away from the door...total silence!
GOOD - Friendly staff, great breakfast (normal from what I have been to for this type of hotel), comfortable beds, pet friendly, great water pressure, never ran out of hot water, quick check-in/out, and we received the room we booked at the price it should have been. I have had many top hotels screw up on these.
I've included some photos of the suite so you can get an idea of the layout as I couldn't find anything prior to my stay (sorry they are from my phone, so not the best). Please message me if you have any questions.
We are currently at the hotel and ended up at this La Quinta after being at a horrible hotel. While this place is the Taj Mahal compared to the other hotel, it is actually quite lackluster for what I am used to experiencing with La Quintas.
When my boyfriend went to check us in at 11:00pm, after two hours spent trying to find a new hotel after the 5 minutes we spent in this craphole Days Inn by Universal, he was noticeably exhausted and frustrated. He explained what happened to us to the front desk woman who then upgraded us to a suite at no cost, which was quite nice of her. It turns out, though, that the floor she placed us on is a smoking floor and cigarettes are a vile smell to me. I dealt with it, however, because I remembered where I could have been staying and was grateful to be in a better place. Upon entering the room, the mirror on the wall had fallen forward and was only being held up by the lamp in front of it. Of course we had to laugh, what luck we have! The carpet could definitely use a cleaning, the bathrooms are quite tiny. The sink area is separate from the bathroom and is the first thing you walk into in the room. Kind of strange. The air conditioner is fairly loud, but there is a fan in the room, which is nice to have.
Positives are the nice flat screen TV, a mini fridge, microwave, working and somewhat fast Wifi, being pet friendly at no extra cost, the continental breakfast, and the kind front desk lady. And the rate of $52 per night doesn't hurt either. The location is a little farther from where we wanted to be, but a 15-20 minute drive to Universal is doable. In all, we are just so happy to not be staying at the other hotel that even the flaws in this place seem alright.
We really enjoy and look forward to staying here when ever we come to the area which is 4-6 times a year. Always can count on a clean room and a friendly staff. Breakfast is ok but they need to improve their choice of coffee.
this hotel in my opinion was very very good for the price I paid. They are people friendly and pet friendly. The room that my family and I stayed in had a microwave and a pretty sizable fridge in it.they also had a washer and dryer if you needed to wash your clothes. They has a iron and ironing board. I will always stay at La Quinta Hotels. I highly recommend.
Rooms were fairly clean, (under the beds had not been cleaned in a while and could have used a vacuum). Beds were very comfortable. Pet friendly place. You do have to sign a waiver stating you understand that if you leave your pets and they are a nuisance that animal control will be called. I did find the pool to be in a very unusual place out of the way and too near the main road. The night of check in was strange and I almost did not stay. They had had an issue and the police had been called. But really all I need a hotel for is for a good nights sleep and I got that every night. You are close to all the attractions. I would stay again if in the area.
